The political landscape of Britain changed forever on May 2nd, 2025, and we at Reform UK – Rochester & Strood are proud to be part of this momentous day. With an extraordinary 677 councillors elected across the country, Reform UK has made history – not only in the scale of its success but in the message it sends: Britain is ready for real change.

đź”· What Happened?
In what is being described as the biggest political shock in decades, Reform UK surged to the top spot in the 2025 local elections, gaining:
- 677 councillors – more than any other party.
- Control of 10 local councils outright, including Kent, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Durham.
- Shared control of 4 additional councils, where we are now the largest or joint-largest party.
- 2 directly elected mayors – in Greater Lincolnshire and Hull & East Yorkshire.
- A new MP elected in the Runcorn & Helsby by-election.
Our performance has stunned the mainstream parties. With a national vote share exceeding 30%, we have overtaken the Conservatives and Labour in many areas. This wasn’t a protest vote – this was a decisive demand for action, transparency, and national renewal.
đź”· Why It Matters to Rochester & Strood
While this wave of national success is remarkable, the local impact here in Rochester & Strood cannot be overstated. Our branch has seen unprecedented engagement, support, and activism, all of which helped build the momentum that fed into these results.
Our supporters knocked on doors, delivered leaflets, and engaged on social media – spreading the message that Reform UK stands for the people, not the political class. This is your victory too.
We now have a stronger platform than ever before to fight for the issues that matter to you:
- đź’· Lower taxes and less wasteful spending
- 🛑 Ending uncontrolled immigration

- 🗣️ Restoring trust in politics and giving power back to local people
đź”· A Word from Reform UK Leadership
Party leader Nigel Farage called the results “a political earthquake”, stating:
“This is the beginning of the end for the tired two-party system. People are fed up with being ignored. They’ve voted for common sense, for patriotism, and for local control. We’re just getting started.”
National chairman Richard Tice added:
“Reform UK is now a major force in British politics. The old parties are rattled – and they should be. We’re here to stay, and we’re here to lead.”
🔷 What’s Next?
This is not the end – it’s just the beginning. With council control, mayoral power, and new voices in Parliament, Reform UK will now be putting policy into action, and delivering on our promises.
Locally, we will continue building support and preparing for the upcoming General Election, where we aim to win representation for Rochester & Strood in Westminster. The momentum is with us – and with your help, we can deliver even greater victories.
